Below are some images of the archaeological work that was carried out by A.D. Marble & Co., work that was based on Torben Jenk's measurements, measurements based on old surveys, land deeds, partition deeds, and road petitions that he, Rich Remer, and I, had found. We had been trying to get these folks to look for Batchelor's Hall since early 2008, but only recently on October 29th, 2008, did Terrence McKenna, the lead man for Keating, the developer of the site, agree to undertake looking for Batchelor's Hall. Previous to this time, McKenna insisted that Batchelor's Hall was not on the site, but west of it, somewhere between Shackamaxon & Poplar, Allen Street & Delaware Avenue. We believe that we have proved him incorrect and that this foundation in these images are indeed Batchelor's Hall. The foundation sits exactly where we thought it might sit based on extensive research that we conducted. Click "here" for a pdf file of evidence, including copies of the surveys, etc, that we found that shows Batchelor's Hall was indeed located on the SugarHouse Casino site and that this foundation, found on November 10th, is indeed Batchelor's Hall.

The Philadelphia Inquirer covered this story as "Archaeological controvesy over foundation discovered at SugarHouse site" by Jennifer Lin. The link for the story is no longer good, however this link here at PlanPhilly also give the story as covered by Kellie Patrick Gates: "Big Discovery at SugarHouse site?"
Joyce Evans of Fox 29 TV did a great report on Batchelors' Hall on Tuesday evening (Nov. 11, 2008), see the article "Sugarhouse, Historian At Odds Over Latest Dig Find" and video "Historian Says Find Is 'Big Deal'" However this is no longer on FOX's website.
